Kea’au
The cottage is at the end of the driveway, surrounded by tropical greenery, with an orange tree in back that yields the most delicious oranges I’ve ever tasted, and a jack fruit tree that yields huge fruits that can weigh 20-30 pounds.
The hale doesn’t look very large from the outside, but once you open the front door, you immediately enjoy its spaciousness and vaulted ceilings; a thick Ohio tree trunk supporting the roof.
Don’t tell my other guests, but this is my favorite cottage, just perfect for a romantic couple who wants serenity.
Because it is so private, the large windows and sliding glass door can be left open, pulling the outside in. Waking up to the morning sun filtering in through palm trees outside is just magical. You’ll enjoy a morning tea or coffee outside on the garden patio built for two. If you bring along kids, they can sleep on the living room futon, or if you have a baby, we have a playpen/crib and high chair for you to use.
The kitchen may be small, but it is more than adequate for home-cooked meals, and to make lunches to pack in the picnic box and set out, the “Deep Hawaii Adventures” book in hand; the portable chairs, boogie boards, snorkel gear … all in the trunk, ready to be used as you explore and enjoy the many wonders of this island.
